    Extra and Co Curricular

At LGS we strongly believe in active participation and promotion of sports, arts, cultural and other co-curricular activities.  Besides a strong physical educational programme, the school invests in expert coaching in karate and kathak too.

A new subject called “Skills” is also being introduced; it will include lessons in cooking, sewing, gardening and carpentry.

A character building period has been introduced to inculcate morals and ethical values.

Students will be taught how to appreciate classical and contemporary music. We have our own choir and percussion band too.

    Discipline

In order to maintain discipline the cooperation of parents in helping us implement policies and rules is imperative.

For classes 3-5 warning slips will be issued under the following categories:

    Yellow Slip

    1 point

Offences like coming late, wrong uniform and not doing homework.

    Red Slip

    2 points

Behaviour problems like fighting, using abusive language, cheating, stealing and damaging school property.

5 points will result in detention for one week, during the second break. In case of absence the student will have to make up for it in the following week.

    Security

ID cards must be produced, daily, at pick-up time.

Students must be picked up within thirty minutes after home time.

The school subscribes to an SMS service that provides instant communication with you on matters of importance. Please ensure that the school is informed immediately of any changes in your contact details.

    Rules

    · Students have to wear their sports uniform and white canvas shoes on the days they have sports and karate. On all other days they must wear black, school-shoes.

    · Hair accessories can only be black, blue or white.

    · For safety reasons, keep earrings as small and as simple as possible; gold jewellery is absolutely prohibited in school.

    · Parents must check the school diary daily, for any homework/notices.

    · All the child’s belongings like lunch box, flask and sweater must be clearly labelled.

    Advice

    · On school nights make sure that you child has packed her books and stationery properly and goes to bed early.

    · Do not allow children unsupervised internet access.

    · Please observe the rules and formalities when writing an application for your daughter. Scraps of paper with incomplete information will not be entertained. The application must be on a proper paper, appropriately addressed and dated, clearly stating the child’s full name, class and section. For your assistance, a formatted application form is available at the front desk.

    · The proceeds of the school tuck shop will be used for the education and welfare of our lower staff’s children.

    · You are strongly advised to ensure a healthy breakfast and provide a healthy snack for school. If we get a good response, we would be happy to conduct a workshop for mothers on ideas for healthy snacks.
